How streaks are counted
Every habit in HabitFlame has a current streak and a longest streak. Complete the habit on a day it is scheduled and the current streak goes up by one. Miss a scheduled day and it resets, while the longest streak stays as your record to beat. Days when the habit is not scheduled do not count against you, so a habit set to weekdays keeps its streak over the weekend.
That scheduling detail matters more than it sounds. A lot of streak apps assume every habit is daily, which punishes you for a rest day you planned. HabitFlame lets each habit run every day, on specific days of the week, or as a weekly target such as three workouts a week, and the streak follows that rule.
Milestones and badges
Reaching a milestone streak gets a celebration on screen. The milestones are 7, 14, 21, 30, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 365, 500 and 1000 days. The early ones come fast on purpose: the first week is where most habits die, so the app makes a point of marking it.
Alongside streaks there are 16 achievement badges for things like your first completed week, a perfect month or a long run on a single habit. They live on the stats screen and fill in over time.
Seeing the whole year
The stats tab has a full year grid, one square per day, coloured by how much of your day you completed. Weekly and monthly charts show completion rates, and each habit has its own history with current and longest streak. It is the view people screenshot at the end of the year.
Streaks on the home screen
Home screen and lock screen widgets show today's habits, your progress for the day and your current streaks, and home screen widgets let you complete a habit without opening the app. On a day when you are about to break a long streak, that number on the home screen is the reminder that works.
A streak someone else can see
This is what makes HabitFlame different from a plain streak counter. Pair with a partner by sending an invite link and choose which habits to share. With Premium, each shared completion and your current streak reach your partner the moment they happen, and they can react and nudge you when a day is still open. Without Premium, your partner sees a combined weekly count of what you both completed, and your nudges still get through. When a long streak is on the line, an evening streak-at-risk alert goes to your partner with Premium, and knowing they will see it break is usually enough to keep it.
Tracking types that fit real habits
- Yes or no, for habits like flossing or making the bed.
- Count, for glasses of water, pages read or reps done, with a daily goal.
- Duration, for minutes of meditation, practice or exercise.
- Multi check-in, for habits you do 2 to 4 times a day, such as taking medication morning and evening.
A count or duration habit counts toward the streak once the daily goal is reached, so the streak reflects the habit you actually set, not a single tap.
How to protect a long streak
Streaks rarely break on a hard day. They break on an ordinary day, when the habit slips your mind until it is too late. A few settings make that much less likely.
- Set the reminder for the part of the day when you actually have room for the habit, not the time you wish you did.
- Put a widget on the home screen or lock screen, so today's open habits are in front of you every time you pick up the phone.
- Schedule the habit honestly. If you only run on weekdays, set it to specific days, and the weekend will not cost you the streak.
- Share the habit with a partner, who can nudge you before the day ends.
It also helps to keep the daily goal small enough to hit on a bad day. If the goal is 25 minutes of reading and you keep missing it, lower the goal until you can reach it on your worst day. A streak built on a goal you can hit on your worst day lasts far longer than one built on your best, and you can raise the goal once the habit has settled.
When a streak does break, the longest streak stays on record. Starting again from day one is not a failure. It is the next attempt at a number you already know you can reach.

Questions about streaks
- Does a rest day break my streak?
- Not if the habit is scheduled around it. Set the habit to specific days or to a weekly target and unscheduled days are skipped, not counted as misses.
- What happens when a streak breaks?
- The current streak resets to zero and starts again with your next completion. Your longest streak is kept as a record.
- Can I see streaks for more than one habit at once?
- Yes. The Today tab shows each habit's current streak, the stats tab lists current and longest streaks for every habit, and widgets show streaks on the home screen.
- Is the streak tracker free?
- Yes. Streaks, milestones, badges and the year view are all in the free version. Premium removes the 5 habit limit and adds features like habit stacking and real-time partner updates.
